Now I’m depressed that everything needs another coat on this Ork.

Hobbystreak Day 254

August. A month of Orks, Tyranids and Necrons I think. All more fun to paint than the rest of my current in progress pile. Expect me to instead get distracted and end up doing a bunch of Malifaux or Halo models.

Did some more metals on the Orks. Since they’re the Nobz for two groups of boyz I’m making them have some brigher cloth than the others will have so they stand out. Going by the pictures though they’re still far too dark and dull.

Hobbystreak Day 249

More Orks! Built and undercoated another 6 as well.

Hobbystreak Day 248

More Ork work today.

Hobbystreak Day 247

Did some work on the warboss and a nob. Experimenting with Ork skin colours from the P3 range. It’s lacking the deep yellow green I’d like at the moment I think.

The problem of doing two squads of these boyz is that they’re two identical squads of models. Mayby 11th edition will bring a new multi part kit for them to replace this push fit kit that would obviously have been better in a starter set than just a more general release.

Hobbystreak Day 246

A while back I ordered the made to order re-release of the battlefield objectives kit because I love small bits of scatter flavour terrain. A lot of it feels more like it’d work in Necromunda, especially hive secundus with the tyranid and lab bits, but that’s just a bonus. I loved the reaction to that kit as the warhammer world discovered multicoloured plastics for the first time with clear pieces on the same sprue as the normal grey plastic. Bandai and co have been doing this forever, and I do wonder if that was part of a tie up with a Japanese company in some way. There’s little things of Japanese style in many kits these days, the most noticable being the way that some kits have much smaller connection points to the sprues so they don’t rely on clippers being needed as much. You see this a lot on single character models and especially the blind boxes they design for the Japan markets. I’m curious about why they end up on other models though, I’m sure there’s a story there.
