Sometimes there is a product that is so painfully obviously being pushed through getting youtube channels and everybody talking about it through freebies to the creators that it’s a turn off from ever wanting to buy it. The Voortex by Gaahleri is one of these product. It’s a paint shaker/mixer and I already have one of those but my one has a fatal flaw in that you hold the pot over the shaker and the vibrations do terrible things to your hand and wrist. You know when you just know doing something will come back to bite you later with an injury? Well this one holds the bottle itself and that alone was enough reason for me to buy it. My review is this: I wish I didn’t need to pay for a mixer but I never shake my paints enough and some of them separate badly so I’m always getting annoyed. It doesn’t hurt me either so I actually mix the paints using it for long enough. The extra cost for those two things is worth it to me, and it doesn’t look too ugly on my desk either. I’m still not happy about needing one though.
In actual hobby progress I grabbed some more minis out of a drawer to add here and that led to me upgrading the paint job on some Necrons. Before when I was doing the hobbystreak thing and trying to paint as many models as possible I was making more visible progress for sure, but I wasn’t actually doing much with the minis after and I wasn’t giving them that last step they needed. Or last 10 steps if I’m honest, even now I think I skip 8 of them.
